Who Needs Anger?

Lila wrote these two related gems over a decade ago. Still fresh. Still profound.

Note: The featured photo is a painting by Francisco Goya (1746–1828) titled, “The Third of May 1808”. Though over 200 years old, the work of Goya is relevant today.

Who Needs Anger?

The poet (a name I cannot find) said it all.

“Wars are fought by the youth

for the gat-toothed old women

who want power.”

Here, it’s men, not the queens of old,

but, still old killing off the young.

All wars are the same.

Stupid.

In the Fullness of Time – The Tale of the Cats

The neighbors, a youngish family with five children (hers and his and theirs) moved in the over-the-fence house with two dogs and eight cats and counting. Needless to say, the cats used my garden and grass as a litter box.

After stepping in cat-poo all summer, I bought a BB pistol to discipline them. No luck. I could not cock the gun; I did not have enough hand and arm strength. I’m 82 after all.

Time passed, another summer of stink and step-in crap. I bought a Daisy Air Rifle. Again, no luck. I couldn’t hit a tree, let alone a cat.

So my human responses to my dilemma were in vain. I decided, finally to endure. Live and let live.

But

Wonder of wonders. In the fullness of time, it will be solved. The neighbors have put their house up for sale. They plan to move to an acreage. Kids, dogs, cats and all.

Thank You Jesus!

Amen.
